I am a counsellor and psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience of helping people in distress and difficulty. I have worked in both the public sector (as Clinical Director of a Counselling and psychotherapy service) within an NHS trust and also in private practice. I aim to offer the client the opportunity to move forward in their life by creating understanding and self awareness of the issues he or she may bring and also strategies for dealing with these difficulties. My many years of experience mean that I have worked with a wide range of issues and am able to offer an experience which may be an investment in the rest of one's life.
I have a great deal of experience in working with trauma, particularly related to childhood, being a boarding school survivor and also trauma experienced in adulthood.
Having worked in mental health for some years, I qualified in 1992 at WPF Counselling and Psychotherapy which is recognised as a leading training organisation and counselling agency in the UK, with the highest standards of excellence in both training and clinical work.
I am a professional member of the Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling and am accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council
and The Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling.
I have worked as Clinical Director of a counselling service within an NHS trust for fifteen years, supervising and training a team of counsellors, as well as working in private practice.
Prior to becoming a psychotherapist I worked as a mental health professional and I have a wide range of experience and in depth understanding of mental health problems and challenges.
